With the new year starting, people are putting together their resolutions and making goals that they have probably been thinking about for a while. The new year gives us a great opportunity to start over and motivates us to get moving on those goals.

What are your goals for the new year?

Some things that you may or may not have thought about could revolve around upgrades or simple projects for your home. Now is the perfect time to plan those projects. Even if you don’t get them done in the next couple weeks, you can start planning for them, especially if there is going to be any money necessary for the projects.

Here are some goals that you might want to consider for your home in the new year.

Interior Design Upgrades

How long have your walls been the same drab color? Or how long have those same family photos been hanging on the walls?

Every now and then we really need some change to the interior of our home just to keep things fresh and interesting. (And it’s fun!)

So, for part of your home resolutions, plan out an area of your home that you would like to see refreshed and start gathering the materials you need to make that happen.

Cleaning Projects

There are probably too many cleaning projects on your mind to count, and every time you do start thinking about it, it gets a little overwhelming. Well, stop thinking about all of them and just focus on one at a time. What you can do is make a list of all of the cleaning projects you want to get done, and then tackle those one at a time instead of stressing yourself out over how much there is.

Some good cleaning projects to focus on might include:

  • Clearing out the storage space (garage, closets, attic, basement, etc.). Go through your old junk and finally get it out of your house. Donate items you don’t need and throw away items that no one needs.
  • Deep cleaning the kitchen and/or bathrooms. As the most traveled rooms of the home, the kitchen and bathroom need a little extra love when it comes to cleaning. Plan a time when you can really get down and dirty to do all of the deep cleaning jobs these rooms need.
  • Disinfect the home. If you’ve had a lot of people coming and going through the holidays or have had illnesses going back and forth a lot, you might want to disinfect your home. If you’re not sure how to go about this, consider a professional like Pure Maintenance to come in and get the job done.

Exterior Projects

What does the outside of your home look like? Does it need a little extra love and care?

Maybe you’ve been wanting to do some landscaping for years and have never gotten around to it. Maybe you’ve always wanted to plant a garden. Or maybe the outside of your home needs a paint job.

Whatever exterior projects you have been wanting to do for your home, now is the time to plan for it. Especially with tax season rolling around, you should start planning for the financial side of these projects. When you have the time to get to them, you have the money to do it to.

Don’t wait to get started on your resolutions and dreams for your home. Even if you can’t tackle each project right away, start planning for it. Schedule times throughout the year when you can realistically achieve these goals.

You’ll be glad you did.
