Cleaning can be a relief for some and a chore for many. In an age where it is becoming increasingly more common to hire somebody to do the dirty work for you, it is also an age where technology is advancing, to the point where you don’t have to put in even half of the work that previous generations did in order to achieve a clean home.
With the introduction of washing machines, tumble dryers, dishwashers and steam mops, this sees an ease in workload for us today (although it’s not too good for our waistline!) If you don’t shop around and ensure you are getting the best gadget that you can for your money, you’ll be left behind in the past.
Mop It Up!
If you’re still mopping surfaces with a traditional mop, you are way behind. Steam is the new thing, and if you haven’t heard about the wonders it can do for your floors then make yourself comfortable – you’re going to be here for a while. Killing bacteria without the need for anything but hot water almost sounds too good to be true (you will have to mop quite slowly for this to be effective), but it’s here, it’s real and it’s available to you.
Think of the money that you’ll save on cleaning products! There are still a few out there who like to do a once-over with a normal mop after steam-cleaning to produce a nice scent, but the hard work has already been done. No more scrubbing away at tough marks, no more going over the same patch trying to lift dirt and no more streak marks – steam mops will take care of it all for you.
Hoover For Your Life
For some vacuums there is actually a lifespan of about 20 years. Most people choose to replace when the upgraded version of their own model comes out, but in terms of getting the job done you’re suitable with what you’ve got for the time being. However, they can lose suction and begin to smell if you don’t clean them properly, plus you may find that your hoover doesn’t have all of the add-ons that you require (for stairs, skirting boards, to reach behind cupboards etc). In which case, you need to look at the best vacuum cleaner reviews online and see which one ticks all of the boxes; remember to look for one that is compatible/sucks well with your floor type, is easy to store within your home and is a good weight for you to be able to carry up and down stairs if needs be.
There are, of course, tips and tricks to achieving a better clean within your home without the need for buying a new vacuum cleaner or steam mop. There are traditional mops on the market with a scuff-pad inbuilt so you can really get to grips with eliminating stains, and hand-held cleaners are the cheaper alternative to keeping on top of the hoovering and getting into all of the nooks and crannies. Go with what you can afford and remember to get on top of your cleaning before it gets on top of you!
